MBEYA Regional Police Force Is Holding Magreth Lyanda, A Resident Of Mwenge Street, Mbozi District, Songwe Region, On Suspicion Of Murdering 15-Year-Old Rehema Sikalengo, Who Lived In Mbalizi Sub-Town, Mbeya District Council.
Commander Benjamini Kuzaga Has Confirmed The Arrest Of The Suspect And Explained That On September 16, 2025, In The Ddc Mbalizi Area, Mbalizi Sub-Town, Rehema Was Found Murdered In Her Home In The Kitchen And Her Body Was Submerged In A Bucket Filled With Water.
Following The Incident, The Mbeya Regional Police Force Began An Investigation And On September 18, 2025 At Around 7:00 Pm, The Suspect Was Arrested In Connection With The Incident At The Industrial Crossroads, Mlowo Ward, Mbozi District, Songwe Region.
"Preliminary Investigations Have Revealed That The Suspect Claims To Have Committed The Murder Because In 2023 He Arrived At Ddc Mbalizi From Mbozi To Work For His Grandmother Named Judith Emmanuel Who Is The Biological Mother Of The Deceased With An Agreement To Be Paid Sh. 100,000 Per Month And He Worked For Five Months Without Being Paid His Wages," Explained Kuzaga.
He Said That On The Day Of The Incident, The Suspect Arrived At The Mother's House Who Was Not There At The Time And Started Stealing Household Items As Part Of Compensating For The Money That Was Not Paid At That Time.
He Explained That While He Was Continuing To Commit The Crime, The Child Rehema Saw Him And Told Him That When His Mother Returned She Would Explain To Him, Based On That Statement, The Suspect Decided To Carry Out The Murder With The Aim Of Destroying Evidence.
